KNIGHT RIDER - PACK 14

The shadowy flight continues with Pack 14 of the FanHome release of KITT from Knight Rider! This pack marks the halfway point of the build and with the chassis, engine, and electrics all finished it's time to start working on the interior that is such an integral part of not only KITT's personality but Michael's as well. In pack 13, we completed the dashboard with all of the lights, gauges, and steering wheel! That came out fantastic!

Pack 14 begins with stage 51 and the construction of the center console including the gear selector, center glove compartment, and a lit computer panel. I really love this and I think it turned out really great!

The most impactful addition in this pack is without a doubt the interior floorpan. FanHome actually did a really nice job on this floor pan. While it is plastic, there is texture added to it to give it a 'carpeted' feel which is really quite nice. In my other collections that I have done that are 1:8 Scale cars, the floor pans were simply pieces of plastic but it was nice to see FanHome take this floor up a notch! That being said...enter...

If you have followed my Instagram over the years, you know the high regard I hold for Mike Lane. The wizard from Plymouth in the UK has offered upgrades that bring immeasurable value to our models. A showcase of the Back to the Future DeLorean is coming soon on this site, but Knight Rider is the third 1:8 car buildup that has an upgraded floorpan via his carpet modifications. Mike's carpet has found its way into the DeLorean as well as the ECTO-1 and is one of my favorite modifications in each one. It is, now, time to add Knight Rider to the list! Mike's carpets are self-adhesive, laser-cut, and easy to install following the detailed instructions on his website. Enough talk, it's time to see these up close because I absolutely love them!

But WAIT! Mike's not done, folks! I addition to the carpet, Mike also offers floormats. If you think the carpet is good, check these out! Available in tan brown to match the carpet or black (shown) with or without logos. You can also see the difference they make. I went with the black ones...not screen accurate to the show but they really pop in the car and have a very nice velvety feel to them.

How cool is that? The pedals and center console were also installed in the floor pan at this point but I just cannot get over the enhancement of the carpet and the floormats combined just make this vehicle at the moment. Pack 14 was finished off by some work on the engine bulkhead which will

continue in the next pack along with the driver's seat where Michael Knight spent so much time in the show's four seasons! I just love how this is going!
